Kimberlee “Kim “Parmer LPC, LCDC was born in Portland, Maine in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Illinois State University in 1979. She worked as the Social Services Director of a nursing home and in the psychiatric hospital field. She became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in 1988 where she then practiced at a non-profit counseling center in Northwest Houston. She worked specifically with the family members of the addicted loved ones educating and counseling them on the disease process, boundary setting, grieving and coping skills. In this setting she also worked with homeless women and children and delivered a pre-trial intervention program with first offenders with the local District Attorney. In 2012, she started her graduate program at Prairie View A&M University and earned a Master of Science degree in Human Science. She is now a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and most recently obtained a Somatic Experiencing Professional certificate. Since 2015 she has been working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence at a non-profit center in Hempstead, Texas serving five counties.
